Our story and Aim

as a HEALTH, FITNESS & WELLBEING HUB

Back in March 2021 Kim and Heather viewed the southern suite in Wellcroft House with a view to move their existing dance classes that they each individually taught to a more central permanent location in Shipley.

When they came to view the space, a realisation hit them that the space would be wasted to be used just for their classes and needed to be used for the community.

Over the next 30 months, as time ticked along agreeing the lease and contracts, they worked behind the scenes planning and preparing sessions and classes that could be brought to the hub for the community.

September 1st, 2023! over two years from first viewing and having both had babies in that time the keys were handed over and The Activity Den was officially open!

OUR AIM

To provide the community of Shipley and surrounding areas with a space to come and attend classes, sessions and workshops centred around ones Health, Fitness and Wellbeing. Ensuring the classes and sessions are accessible, offering Pay What You Can so financial constraints aren't a barrier for people attending. Being inclusive and offering something for everyone. We want The Activity Den to be a safe space for everyone, offering something for all, to ensure our community have access to creative arts and ways of expressing themselves to help their physical and emotional wellbeing.

How can you support us?

Ways of supporting our organisation, either by donating time, knowledge or raising money

Committee Member

If you have the skillset and knowledge to offer to becoming a committee member then we would love to hear from you.

The Activity Den CIC Committee will be responsible for managing the overall running of the CIC.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds but would specifically like to hear from people with knowledge and experience in any of the below, but not limiting to:

- Accounting

- Marketing

- SEND

- Fundraising

- HR

Please note, that if you do not have experience in any of the above we would still love to hear from you as we are welcoming members from all areas but these five areas are areas we would like to fill in addition to other roles.

Fundraisers & Event Planners

There are many ways you can help us fundraise. You can run a bake sale, sponsored walk, organise a local event, or do a raffle. If you're running an event and are looking for a group/organisation to support we would be delighted if you would consider The Activity Den (Bradford) CIC

Steering Group Members

We are really passionate about offering classes and sessions to the right people in the right way. For us to do this we need to expand on our knowledge and expertise. We are setting up a variety of steering groups and would love for as many people to be involved in these as possible to help steer our organisation into 2024 and beyond.

Current Steering Groups

- SEND

- Community Events

- Fundraising

We plan for each steering group to meet one evening in November/December for an initial meeting, ideally in person but we can have some people attending the meeting via zoom. We will then meet every 3 months or more regular if required (no more than once a month).

Hub Volunteers

As a non profit group we are always looking for volunteers to help us run the space on a day-to-day basis.

We always hope that some voluntary roles will lead to employment and as we are a newly formed CIC this is something we will be applying for funding for in the future but for now we are looking for voluntary roles.

Hub Assistants - to help run the hub on a day-to-day basis. Be there to open up for our users, help support them with setting up, answer the door buzzer etc. Some light cleaning and tidying may be involved between sessions.

Hub Maintainance - to help us with some adhoc odd jobs that. may need doing.

Stay & Play Volunteers - Thursday morning session leaders who can help set up for the playgroup, make cups of tea/coffee for the attendees, make toast, interact with the grown-ups and children.

Supporters & Donors

You can support us in a variety of ways. Like us on Facebook, share our posts, tell people about us... all of which are FREE!

If you can support us financially we have a variety of ways in addition to the fundraising. You can send a one-off donation. We also have the option for you to make a regular monthly donation via Direct Debit for an amount of your choice.
